Jessica Rose , 18 (Jess is actually 20)
Los Angeles
Actress, lonelygirl15.com and I Know Who Killed Me (out this fall)
The magazine features 30 nspirational women under 30
According to the magazine Jessica says:
"I didn't want to do lonelygirl at first, I didn't really go on the Internet, I didn't know bloggers or any of that stuff, and I thought, 'Well, this isn't gonna work, this is stupid.' But I didn't have anything on my resume, so I just took it and ran with it. I need to do that more often, because everytime I do, it ends up a good thing. Now I can meet with people I never thought I could, like directors. And I'm getting more work - that's the only thing fame is really good for."

June 2007
The second article is from Cosmo in a section on "Real-life Reads"
The article is by Cara Litke and talks about the "OVERNIGHT FAME" that is experienced by "these surprisingly normal chicks hit the Internet and became stars faster than a high-speed connection".
Here is what she had to say about Jessica Lee Rose:
"A few years ago, 20 year old Jessica Lee Rose barely knew what a blog was. Now she's been dubbed "the poster child for YouTube." Here's how it happened: In early 2006, after moving to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career, Rose - a Maryland native who grew up in New Zealand - answered an online ad for an independent film job. She was one of 80 actresses who auditioned, though she wasn't given much info about the role.
Rose was offered the part, and that's when producers filled her in on the innovative project: She'd be posting diary-style video blogs on the Internet under the guise of "Bree," a 16-year-old American teenager. The blog series would feature Bree (or lonelygirl15, as she was known to her fans) confessing to the camera about typical teen angst as well as her life as the homeschooled daughter of strict religious parents. "I almost didn't accept the role because I was worried they were scamming me," says Rose. "But I had nothing else on my resume, so I signed on." The first blog was posted on YouTube in June 2006, with subsequent videos hitting the site every few days. As a trained actress, Rose enjoyed the challenge of acting in a TV-series-like format for the Internet.
"Because the Web is so much more intimate than any other media, you break the usual rules and address viewers directly, like you're talking to your friends," says Rose.
Within months, lonelygirl15 became the most viewed blog on YouTube. "We have had more than 50 million views," says Rose.
But fans and other bloggers began speculating that Bree was an actress playing a part. The mainstream media ran with the story, prompting producers to come clean this past September. Ironically, all the attention has made lonelygirl15 even more renowned. "Viewership quadrupled, and people started recognizing me and approaching me in public,
says Rose.
These days, Rose films three to five episodes a week for lonelygirl's new Website, LG15.com; more than 160 blog postings have been created since the series began. But playing Bree isn't the only thing on her plate right now. She has two feature films in the works: Perfect Sport and I Know Who Killed Me (alongside Lindsay Lohan). Rose appreciates how the Web has made her a budding Hollywood starlet. "The Internet was a great springboard for me, allowing me to connect with a great manager and land movie auditions," she says."
- OVERNIGHT FAME also includes pieces on other famous Internet stars such as Amanda Congdon , Leah Kauffman and Melissa Lamb. It also includes tips on "How to be a Web Celeb".
This issue of Cosmopolitan is in stores now!!!!!
I would have scanned the pictures from the magazines onto my computer, but its broken. So I resorted to taking pictures with my camera.
