The girl picture is completely out of place.
Some history about it
It's a painting by the french painter Edgar Degas. It was painted between 1860-62. It's not his most popular or well known, however there is a surprising link to Order references. He painted a painted entitles "Absinthe," in 1876. Random factoid. Edgar's most famous works were definitely of Ballet dances from the Paris Opera.
ok next factoid that i'm researching. That odd box with "Minen" on it, translates to "Mines," in German. I figured it was german because every picture in that account links back to Nazists, Hitler, WW2 and/or the German army some how. Including Degas (his birth name is Hilaire-Germain-Edgar Degas)
Maybe the new girls name is Hillary or Hilaire or German.
Here's the wiki link for Edgar Degas:

Hey everyone,
This is my first post so go easy on me please. Hopefully this wasn’t already said.. I only read the first 160 or so comments so far.
Okay, this might make me sound totally off my rocker, and it could be a total stretch or just coicidental, but… I googled “August 30, 2007 Edgar Degas” and the first result was:
“Events for August 30, 2007 at the GettyThursday August 30, 2007 2:30 pm Museum Galleries, Getty Center … It features works by artists such as Edgar Degas, Vincent van Gogh, and Georges Seurat, …
http://www.getty.edu/visit/calendar/days/08302007.html - ”
However when I clicked the link I couldn’t find any further information, maybe I’m just blind, but I thought I would post it for you all to look at. I’m horrible at solving these things.

"Defining Modernity: European Drawings, 1800–1900
Daily through September 9, 2007
West Pavilion, Plaza Level, Getty Center
The development of new materials, the expansion of artistic themes to include subjects from modern life, and the increased demand for images created by new print mediums all invigorated the practice of drawing during the 1800s. This exhibition surveys the depth and variety of 19th-century draftsmanship with works from the Getty Museum's collection and loans from the Courtauld Institute of Art in London. It features works by artists such as Edgar Degas, Vincent van Gogh, and Georges Seurat, who exploited the new subjects and materials of drawing and used traditional subjects and mediums in innovative ways. This exhibition inaugurates the new galleries for drawings on the Plaza Level of the West Pavilion. "

NOTE: A collection of some of Degas' work.

Also... what is with the username on flickr?
ReplyDeletenmahsjlcrowley... we know who crowly is, but what about the 'nmahsjl' part?
That is one scary ass painting.
ReplyDeleteSo the new girl is a ballerina. Well that narrows it down.
ReplyDeleteactually, a lot of the photos are from vietnam or korea, etc.... not all are related to germany. :-)
ReplyDeleteps especially the santee uprising photo.
ReplyDeleteI assume all the pictures are resistance of one kind or an other.
ReplyDeleteCan someone date them? Maybe there's something to find (tel.number). Also a lot of w's in the titles, internet address?
ReplyDeleteNot all pics were uploaded the same day...
ReplyDeleteyeah, and why does one say it was taken in feb.? all the rest say they were taken in aug., why bother to change it for the one called '30008855-r'?
ReplyDeleteaccording to the archives, it was taken feb.19.07, the same day that 'yellow snow' came out.
the writing @ the bottom says 'bildarchiv preussischer kulturbesitz', which you can read about here: http://germanhistorydocs.ghi-dc.org/bildarchiv.cfm
thats all i had time to research, might be worth a look.
It is probably unrelated, but the painting title reminds me of new girl candidate flowersonmyhat:

"the next girl might have a german name or something..."
