Why are there so few "fan video"?
As BK tries to encourage filmmakers to upload videos (fan responses to the BK post have now been moved to http://lg15.com/lonelygirl15/forum/viewtopic.php?f=112&t=13488 for some unexplained reason) , other UGC makers seem to have four main issues :
1. Why has the TOS not yet been revised to reflect the Creators stated intentions?
2. Why would the site encourage filmmakers to upload videos before modifying the TOS?
3. There are concerns that not all film makers may be aware of the TOS issues when they upload their videos.
4. Why is there a perception that the potential for exposure and a complete archive of fan videos is all that can be done to motivate fans? Why has the issue of not recognising fan characters within the main series been ignored. For example, many fans still blame the death of Maddison Atkins on Bree's failure to respond to fans who reached out to Bree on Maddison's behalf.
It would appear that until all these issues are resolved the UGC community will remain a fragment of what it once was. We hope these can be resolve quickly so that all film makers can get back to doing what they love to do.
A full discussion of all the issues facing filmakers can be found here.
