On This Day in LG15 History: April 5, 2006 - Shoutboy.com debuts
Two years ago this week (the first announcement I can find was made on April 5, 2006), Miles Beckett's first internet video venture, Shoutboy.com was launched. Unlike lonelygirl15.com, shoutboy attempted to draw traffic only to its own site, and only posted promos on other video sharing sites. Miles learned that this method of growing an audience was difficult, when sites like youtube already had a very large audience.
The primary show on Shoutboy was a series of George Bush impression skits by comedian James Adomian.
Here is a short promo clip that was posted on YouTube in April 2006 (listen for Miles' voice off camera):
Podcasting information archives here say that Miles also played CNN's Anderson Cooper in one of the skits. Also, the web designer for shoutboy was Casey Klebba, who now does website work for lg15.com
Later in April 2006, Miles met Mesh Flinders at a karaoke birthday party, and the seeds of lonelygirl15 were sown. The last West Wingers episode (I think there were six total) was posted on May 17, 2006, when planning for casting calls for Lonelygirl15 were in process.
When the lonelygirl15.com forum switched from the original Phorum software in early September 2006 to the phpBB software which drives it today, the very first people to get first registration confirmation emails got them from [email protected], which led to shoutboy.com. The connection was not confirmed until the Creators came out.
Today, the videos that were hosted at shoutboy.com are down, and the site retains only a front page which says: "SHOUTBOY is no longer in business, but check out his distant cousin LG15."
Bree has a cousin?
"Also, the web designer for shoutboy was Casey Klebba"
