The Sun Will Rise Again
The Sun Will Rise Again
July 29th, 2008
As many of know, this Friday’s eclipse will also mark the end of lonelygirl15, but with every end comes a new beginning. The new LG15 show will be premiering in September on www.LG15.com. During the weeks leading up to the show we will be running an ARG/Interactive campaign to build awareness and bring new members to this community. In fact, it’s already started.
We know that you, the LG15 community, are the best ambassadors to bring in and welcome new members to the community. We are looking for people from around the world to act as ambassadors and help promote the show through this interactive campaign.
Each selected ambassador will be given a confidential set of instructions directing them how to proceed. If you would like to be involved email Amanda at [email protected].

ReplyDeleteI got a e-mail back that said she was joking.
ReplyDeleteI think we should nominate ambassadors. I nominate lordgreystoke422.
ReplyDeleteI suspect that announcing an ARG will not go over with with the purist ARG people (TINAG).
ReplyDeleteThe ARG world seems to have a wide range of treatments of the "this is not a game" approach. In the latest LOST ARG in-game webpage, www.dharmawantsyou.com , they have a clearly out-of-game button "What Is This? that gives this message:
ReplyDelete"Welcome to Dharma Wants You.
Dharma Wants You is an online experience connected to the ABC TV show LOST.
The story follows a fictitious scientific community from LOST, The Dharma Initiative, as it attempts to recruit and assess volunteers for a secret research project.
By completing an 'Eligibility Test' and registering on dharmawantsyou.com audience members enroll as volunteer recruits for the Dharma Initiative.
Each week audience members will have the opportunity to complete a test that assesses their abilities in a particular skill."
As long as it is clear what is in-game and what is out-of-game, I don't really mind some meta-conversation to ease confusion, get the word out, and broaden the audience.
So, your interpretation would be that the ambassador thingie is OOG but the ARG is TINAG?
ReplyDeleteAnd do we have any idea what the trailhead was?
Within the ARG community, there is definitely a variance of opinions regarding TINAG. Most ARGers nowadays believe that, as long as the line between IG and OOG is clear, some OOG promotion of the game is acceptable. (Eg. An OOG signup page.)
ReplyDeleteThat said, we still do need to figure out exactly what the trailhead for this ARG is.
TINAG, OOG, Trailhead,
ReplyDeleteMe confused.
I'm pretty sure modelmotion is the trailhead, but since he is in-game, TINAG requires that he cannot admit to being the trailhead. ;)
ReplyDeleteThat last comment was OOG.
