This Day in LG History: Birth of the Forum, July 16, 2006
Two years ago today, on July 16, 2006, the original lonelygirl15.com forum was created. Powered by Phorum software, fans at the time naturally came to call it the phorum.
Here was the first momentous post:
LG15 rocksLGphorumUSR was the first profile created, about an hour before that first post:

So I thought I'd get a forum setup to allow LG15's fans to post comments on her videos here!
User Profile : LGphorumUSR Email: Hidden (#1)Though not identified in the post, that poster was Bukanator, a fictional fan created by the Creators, in effect a rudimentary form of what became the Sophie role on KateModern. As best as I can tell, the main lonelygirl15.com website was live as least as early as July 7 (and thus the comment board can fairly claim to be older), but it wasn't until the forum was created that Bukanator started a posting campaign about his new "tribute" site in Youtube comments.

The phorum grew in popularity over time as the mystery of Lonelygirl15 started to make major headlines. But it was never near the size or popularity of the current forum. By Aug. 7, 22 days after it was started, the phorum only had 15 registered members (#15 was Hyemew). From there, it began to grow steadily, reaching 100 members by Aug. 28, 200 members on Sept. 1, and 300 members on Sept. 5. At that point it was practically unusable, and led to the founding of Anchor Cove. In response, the phorum was then replaced with the current phpBB-based forum still in use today.
That would explain why Anchor Cove is populated by many of the original fans.
