Community Appreciation Week: What Do You Think?
We just had community appreciation week on LG15.com and we want to know what you thought about it. Was it a brave attempt by the creators to give "eqal" exposure to community video series, or was it too little too late? We know that the creators have long said they wanted to help promote community video series but to date their efforts to do so have fell short of many community expectations. Some in the community say it is unrealistic for the community to expect the creators to give community video series a leg up, but others have promoted constructive community ideas on how they could do so.
How would you like to see the creators follow up on community appreciation week to help promote community video series. What are they doing right and what would you like to see them do differently? Leave a comment with your constructive suggestions or feedback for the Eqal creators.
If you just want to enjoy more COMMUNITY VIDEO SERIES check out the community video series index page on LGPedia.

ReplyDeleteRegular Vlogs will be featured this week on LG15.com and those are an entirely different issue. But remember to submit your Vlog so that you get featured!!!
Hmmmm, I think modelmotion may be putting a little different emphasis on the week than it had originally. The announcement said:

"This week LG15.com will feature Community videos that explore the evilness of The Order and why we must fight. These can be new videos or previously posted as part of a fan series, video blog, or a music video."
Sure, vides from series were included, but I saw the week as geared toward "fighting the order" videos, not so much promoting fan created series in general.
Still, I think posting community videos on the main page, especially during lulls between canon videos, is a good way to recognize and encourage fan work.
More tools on the new website to present, share, and organize fan series would be good to see in the future.
I'll be interested to see what the new LG15 beta site will bring.
ReplyDeleteFor now, I would love for lg15 to allow community videos to be approved as video responses on youtube again. I don't know why they stopped allowing or approving video responses, but I'd like them to start again. They can still moderate video responses, and only allow in community ones if they want.
Community Video Series have always explored the Order. Look at Immant.... he created the Order. Look at Lordgreystoke422. We have been doing this since day 1 and asking for more exposure on LG15.com for such series.
ReplyDeleteIt is great that they are finally doing it!!!!
Perhaps the new site could feature a new community video series every weekend if their is no new resistance video.
I actually think that community series have been in a lull recently. Some have been going strong (i.e. the Coalition, Lonefox101, MessyNessy89, etc.) But a lot of others seemed to have gone on a hiatus or have ended (Maddison Atkins, Redearth88, The Flock, etc.).
ReplyDeleteI agree with Virginian that videos should be accepted as responses again, but I think the Creators did that so that viewers wouldn't take the responses as canon to lg15. I'm interested to see how the site will look come September.
Also Qtec,
ReplyDelete"The Coalition" takes place in a parallel universe where the Order does not even exist.
Clearly Eqal wanted to show support for totally independent community video series that do not take place in the extended LG15 Universe.
I think that was a better decision than sticking to the exact wording of their original post. Don't you?
Well I for one really appreciated my vid being featured on thursday, so kudos for the C's. Thank's
