ReplyDeleteHmmm. If it means bringing Taylor back I want this show to win, even if I have to put up with Spencer. But I also like Skylar. This is hard. Why does their only have to be one winner? Why can't they all combine to make one story?

ReplyDeleteHave you ever seen the movie "The Rescue"? Came out in the late 80s and had Kevin Dillon in it. Four kids use their mom's car to save their Navy Seal dads who have been captured inside North Korea.
After watching that movie. Anything that happens in Breeniverse is believable.

ReplyDeleteI think that anon meant that this pilot actually looks like it has a budget, whereas even with a budget, LG15 appears a little more low-rent.
I'm not sure I agree, but this pilot is every bit as good as anything LG15's put out. Taylor FTW!

Well.... I don't see how this isn't fair. The C's said that anyone could use already established characters... And if you had access to any, wouldn't you use them? I really think this is an awesome pilot. Great acting, of course, and awesome quality. Great job!

This was just amazing! How great is it to see Taylor, Spencer and Linc in one series. I'm so excited about this, this one must win! With this series, the whole TSIY concept has finally some potentional. Thank you Jenni, Adam, Will, Logan, Becki and Max!

Well...this is fair only because I guess it's life that isn't fair. I wasn't born with the budget to buy nice cameras or hire anybody to help me. I don't live in a place anybody is willing to do that for free. I don't know anyone of importance to the Creators.
ReplyDeleteMy only problem is...if this is the only one they put in, it'll feel a little to me like "Yeah, you can get in on the action, but ONLY if you know the actors, and if you can get access to them, and if we agree..." It will honestly feel to me more like "The Show is OURS" than "The Show is YOURS." Just my opinion.
Isn't Jenni Powell one who's already in bed with the Creators? Not saying that in a bad way, but I could have sworn I saw Amanda on one of her things...
ReplyDeleteJenni was a part of our community before she ever worked for the Creators. Yes Amanda appeared in Lonelyjew I do believe, but why does that matter?
ReplyDeleteWhat matters is who does the best job on the pilot and the treatment, whether they are someone in LA, England, Tennessee, etc. If you think there is a better pilot then fine. But it would be JUST as not fair to not pick them because previous connections with the Creators. They obviously worked hard and put a lot of effort into this.
I like this pilot a lot. Linc has long been a part of fandom and I'm so glad to see him included. Who knows who/what else they might include?
Life isn't ever going to be fair. There are tons of examples of that I can think of in my own life. But we have to take the opportunities we receive rather than complain about the opportunities we don't have.
I hate to say it. This is a great pilot, but really shouldn't be entered in this competition. It would be great if this show was going on, but another show as well.

I definitely think this should win, the only obstacle that comes to mind is lack of plot, as I assume the actual rescue of Jonas and Maggie will be left for Season 2 of the Resistance, and because the actors are busy. However, this could be remedied quickly with a collaboration with another entry (i.e. collab with Skylar would be so full of win it boggles the mind) and focusing on the character's personal struggles (i.e. Linc's low self-esteem, Taylor's family issues, Spencer's job and girlfriend, etc.) I agree it may be seen as a tad unfair, but a collaboration with a few other entries/ideas, as stated above, would make it feel more legit, at least to me.

it seems to me that jenni and logan are the only semi-pros that have submitted a proposal so far. i'm sure the creators hope for more.
ReplyDeletewhile i have enjoyed watching other pilots, i really see NO WAY that they would be viable beyond a very small audience. doing a show like lg15 is no small deal. hell, the miles, mesh and greg of june 2006 probably couldn't even win this contest.
i understand the comments of Anonymous such as "this makes it feel a lot less like "The Show is Yours" and a lot more like "The Show is whoever has the biggest budget and the best actors" or "The Show is Whatever is like Our Show," but really....
- I want a show with some budget, though its a crime that the C's get it for free.
- I want a show with the best actors.
- I want a show that is at least somewhat similar to (though hopefully better than) the official show.
Just saying, if this is the ONLY one chosen it's still going to feel a lot to me like "Whoever is already with us gets it." Incorporating Skylar would make me feel a lot better, because it wouldn't feel like as much of a setup. It feels like another popularity contest..."Who do the Cs like best? Who's 'in' with them?" More of the same old "who you know" rather than "what you know."
ReplyDeleteI'm not saying people haven't worked hard. I AM saying that OTHER people have worked hard and done their best too, and have had their product labeled junk. Let's face it, there's a massive wall of flame put up by many of the diehards, and unless you're in you don't get much. I guess that's the way life works. You sleep with the boss, you get promoted. It's not fair, but it's not against the rules, either (unless you're not both consenting adults).
And before you go into the "the Cs are people, too..." I USED to believe that. But people can be cold as well.
I dunno...to say "The Show is Yours" and then pick someone who's already in...feel like a betrayal of the spirit of the thing. Bravo for incorporating one new person in there, but it could be so much more.
I know I sound bitter to some of you...but there's a lot of backstory going on.

"Life isn't ever going to be fair."
The world probably isn't ever going to be completely at peace. There probably will never be a time when no one goes hungry. Does this mean we shouldn't try to make life a little fairer, war a little less, the hungry less so, in every instance we can? Or are we just going to give up and sit back with the excuse "Life is never going to be fair?"
I agree with FH14. I think an obstacle to this would be if the C's have plans for a new season of LG15:TR that this would interfere with. For example, if they had Spencer and Taylor in future plot outlines, or if The Misfits' story planned to rescue Maggie but that was the plot for Season 2 of LG15:TR. I assume Jenni would think of this and plan for the story not to intersect, but I can see that being a stumbling point. Otherwise, this is really well done, and I'd be excited to watch it! :)

ReplyDeleteLOL I'm just gunna leave my 2 cents out of this:P ................................Nah I can't! This is for everyone complaining. As I see it, this is completly fair, jenni is a fan and she has access to a few actors, and she put out an awesome pilot. I see nuthing wrong with it. Only thing is that the story will turn into cannon and can't be un done. With that said, It would be better if the C's let this just be the season 2, because as I see it, jenni's plot and the plot of seaso 2 won't mix. Im sure season 2 consists of reed and daniel saving maggie, but since Taylor is trying to save Jonas, and if she successful in it, there will be no plot for season 2. But on he plus side if Jenni wins Im sure she will do what ever she can too include the community into her plot. Anyways to wrap this rant up, Jenni and Logan you did a fantastic job, it's completely fair, I wish you the best of luck in the contest!

As much as I adore Taylor and Becki, THE EXISTENCE OF LINC IN THIS VIDEO TOTALLY TRUMPS EVERYTHING ELSE IN THE WORLD. I NEEDDDD THIS. Even if they don't win, they just need to keep going. They just need to.

Im also confident jenni and logan designed the plot to evade saving TAAG.
The whole get linc to help save jonas thing is more a plot device to motivate and provide reason to find linc. Its the rusult of their actions uppon making contact linc that triggor the plot. As seen someones on their tails meaning survival and evade is the primairy objective over save the phail squad.

Im pretty sure they can still proceed with this plot. As i said logan helped glenn re write opaphid into RE88 avoiding lg15 im sure they wrote this with the same idea in mind.
Its also shows theres still the chance of anyone elses pitch still making it so dont think because this has been pitched theres no longer point trying.
If the winner is someone who's practically on EQAL's payroll anyway...

Jenni doesn't work for LG15/Eqal anymore.

So it's not just someone with Eqal connections, but someone who is a professional within the web field. Don't we want a professional looking show?

ReplyDeletei can understand some skepticism, and i'm all for criticism of EQAL where warranted, but it makes no sense for this to be a set-up.
i mean, the winner doesn't even get paid. was this some elaborate plot to get taylor and spencer back on more favorable terms? i doubt it!
Am I missing something? This show has nothing going for it but Becky and Max. No plot, no innovation. No new take on the whole Order thing. Just the same "we're following somebody who turns the tables on us" thing. I'm expecting a kidnapping in the next episode.

Anon Linc brings an entirely different dynamic to the team as an ex-Order employee. There is a huge opportunity to explore his knowledge of the Order operations. We've seen one episode which just introduces the main characters and sets up their role as misfits. We don't know where the 8 week treatment will go.

ReplyDeleteThat is what Jenni was with EQAL. A PA is just a runner. Not a writer, not a director or high level employee - just an errand girl.
If people think being a PA DQs you from being allowed onto a contest, then get ready to DQ just about everyone in Los Angeles.
Anyone and everyone who wants to et into the entertainment industry has been a PA for multiple productions at some point in their lives. That is not "on the payroll." That is getting paid doing what amounts to bitch work.
lol anon above. funny but true about a Hollywood PA (and interns too) in fact, most people working in Hwood are probably living below the poverty line. but that's another topic altogether.
