Buffy Vampire Slayer movie remake
The Kazuis were credited as executive producers on Buffy the TV show as they owned the rights, but are reportedly not planning to include any of the Vampire Slayer's supporting characters or sidekicks from the hit show in the movie remake.

"Buffy the Vampire Slayer" returning to big screen
"Buffy" creator Joss Whedon isn't involved and it's not set up at a studio, but director Fran Rubel Kuzui is working on a relaunch with Vertigo Entertainment, which specializes in English-language remakes of Asian films, such as "The Grudge" and "The Departed."

Let me see if I get this right. Joss Whedon comes up with a really good story. A bunch of morons turn it into one of the worst pieces of crap ever. JW then takes it back and creates one of the best TV shows ever. And now the original morons who screwed it up in the first place want to screw it up again.
ReplyDeleteWhy not just make a Buffy the Vampire Slayer on Ice show?
There really is only one reason why they would do this, and that is to make buckets and buckets of money.
ReplyDeleteMy guess this was released as an opening salvo. There is no way one can make a Buffy movie without Joss Whedon, but if they can somehow credibly threaten to do so, it might be sufficient to blackmail him into signing on to the project in some capacity.
Basically, this story is floating the idea, which will get the fandom whipped into a frenzy, creating buzz (the currency of Hollywood).
Ugh... I just recently watched all of Buffy in like month. This is going to majorly suck without Joss.
ReplyDeleteWatch them go back the premise that Buffy gets really bad cramps when she encounters a vampire, ala the intial film.
