Harper's Globe - New Articles

Just released (thanks, Robin!) are several articles about John Wakefield and the 2002 murders committed on Harper's Island. We now know the following about the murders:

Following a stint in prison, Wakefield came to Harper's Island, apparently to seek revenge on the police department that incarcerated him 17 years prior.

First killed was civilian Harris Antonini. While responding to the calls regarding the murder, Deputy Joshua Aiken was brutally killed. Wakefield continued on his murderous rampage, stabbing, disemboweling and finally burning Harbor Master Christopher Cullen, Sarah Mills, and Kate Seaver. These final victims were all hanged at a large tree near the Easter Bluff, later dubbed the "Tree of Woe". Several boat explosions were set off in the harbor, causing severe burns to five people.

Wakefield disappeared following the murders. Sheriff Charlie Mills shot Wakefield several times, who then fell to his death over the Eastern Bluff.

WHAT TIME IS IT?...Coverage of Glenn on BreeFM

Glenn, live on BreeFM @11pm EST, Wednesday.

If something works and you are happy/satisfied with it, then do not change it. For example if you try to calibrate a TV for one show then you just end up messing up other things that you watch. It is not always easy to set things back to where they should be. Same thing with Windows. It is very easy to mess things up trying to tweak them. Things were much simpler in the early days of computers and you could not do too much to mess them up.

Glenn's life is like a situation comedy. After a while you start to become aware that we are just going episode to episode. You get ideas and you go with them. Then, it is quite probable that things will go wrong and you will have to work hard to get them back to where they were when they started. You get yourself back to even. Fade to black, end scene.

As a teen it was more like a melodrama but as you settle into your life it feels like it has the rhythm of a situation comedy. A bit like Arrested Development/Curb Your Enthusiasm..... perhaps a little bit of The Office. What TV show is your life like? Real life is pretty funny when it is happening to other people.

People love shows like Family Guy because we all have had our life influenced by popular culture. We are all told TV is not real. Somewhere along the line we started to see stuff that was modelled after real life. It has become a reflection of current attitudes more and more. People want stuff that feels entirely real.

If you look at popular comedy movies that do well we are at a point in history where 50 percent are along the lines of intelligent/self aware comedy. For example look at a Will Farrel comedy and compare it to Paul Blart. (Paul Blart: Mall Cop

Glenn saw the Princes Bride movie 5 times in the theatre. It was a huge failure at the box office.

Glenn has never been a fan of character based humor but he really enjoyed the Comedy Central roast. Fry Club has been doing them for a long time. In 2000 Comedy Central started doing their own roasts. A lot of comedians are good on the roasts but are not that good as comedians. How did the concept of a roast come about? Glenn tried to track down some of the older roasts and found some with Dean Martin. They are just weird. They were on NBC so they were not nearly as mean.

If you don’t know, “Harpers Globe” is the online counterpart to CBS’ upcoming murder mystery event “Harper’s Island.” As much as they plug it as a Mystery, it definitely skews more horror/thriller to me, which would be refreshing to see in a TV show. Definitely intrigued.

China blocks Youtube

"China's apparent blocking of YouTube is at odds with the rule of law and the right to freedom of expression," said CDT president Leslie Harris.

"Anytime a country limits or takes down content online , it must be forthright and specific about its actions and do so only in narrowly defined circumstances consistent with international human rights and the rule of law," stated Ms Harris.

China is not alone in prohibiting access to YouTube. Over the years several other countries have done the same thing.

Earlier this month Bangladesh blocked the site for 36 hours after a video was posted showing a tense meeting between the prime minister and angry army officials after a mutiny by border guards in Dhaka that left more than 70 people dead.

The site is presently being blocked in Turkey.

This Day In LG15 History Does Not Exist: March 24, 2007

First off, this post does not exist.

March 24, 2007, two years ago today, witnessed perhaps the greatest non-event in the history of the Breeniverse.

On that fateful day, Joe posted comment 436 to Vegas Baby!, where Bree had declared: "We can't post videos anymore, guys. This is how they found us. We're gonna upload this and that's it."


Bree's comment appeared to be addressing the great Who Sees What debate of the time. In other words: Who in the Breeniverse is able to see which videos? This issue first arose very early in the Lonelygirl15 storyline, with fans questioning how Bree's parents could not be aware of her rising fame. We were told by Bree that her parents were clueless about the internet.

But once we learned about the Order, everyone wanted to know if the Order was watching the videos, or even if Daniel, Jonas, and Bree were all watching each other's videos. Endless debates were had on this topic. Memories of thinking Bree might be real were still fresh, and most fans generally demanded more realism from lonelygirl15 then they would from a regular TV show.

To address this debate, the Creators announced a plan that some future videos would be posted as "Private Transmissions", a fictional construct, and fans were supportive of the idea.

Thus, comment 436 was posted after Bree declared that no more videos would be coming:

Note that joe's comment now appears as comment 437 above, but it really was comment 436 at the time, as reflected in this mysterious screenshot taken minutes after its original posting:


The next video released after Vegas Baby! was Subjects Apprehended, the first of three private videos posted from the viewpoint of someone within the Order. From all appearances, the concept of "private videos" then disappeared into the 436 from whence it came, never again to be used on lonelygirl15.

The term 436 has since come to mean the mysterious force into which things sometimes disappear in the Breeniverse, such as newly posted videos, websites, promises, etc. KateModern included many references to 436, including a video titled Love on the 436 (June 20, 2008).

It is beyond the scope of this blogpost to detail every possible use of the 436, especially since it does not exist.

The Double Helix Puzzle

I'm posting this on behalf of my good friend Ziola. Seems an impasse must be overcome.

"Hello my lovelies! Your favorite confuzzled bunny here, Ziola. Mistress Zi if you're not a good boy or girl.

You may have noticed my recent visit to Caracas didn't turn out quite as planned. At least not the way I had planned. What you may not be aware of are some of the events that occurred just prior to my leaving.

I like to hang out at the UnFiction forums because I can always use an extra brainiac to help me decipher the puzzles I come across. One day, out of the blue, I received a request to participate in a panel discussion about ARG's and LARP (Live Action Role Play) at an LARP conference in Chelmsford, MA on March 5. "Unusual" I thought, because as we all know, all of the adventures we go on are real. They happen in real-time, in real life. But hey, always looking for a new adventure, I said "Sure, I'll do it".

March 5: Off I go to the hotel where the conference is taking place. I have no friggin' idea what I'm gonna talk about but it's too late to back out now. I had reached out for help with this but no response. I am about to walk into the lion's den completely unarmed. This is not the best situation for Coalition Barbie to be in. At all.

Just fifteen minutes before I take my seat on the panel, I receive an email. It's from someone named unicornchaser. Who the hell is unicornchaser? I click the link and there's a code. My prayers have been answered! I go into the conference, talk about my experiences with the community and present the puzzle.

Act fast, because in no time at all, our universe will be expanding.Soon, a group of unedentified strangers will arrive in Dharma Rhode in order to "start out fresh". Some, looking to take a quick approach at beginning their new lives, and others to end theirs.Lucky for you, all the action takes place right here! As the community, your job is to interact with the characters living within our universe while trying to decipher how exactly everyone is connected. You can do so by following daily content posts by the characters themselves. Start by adding Jeremy Williams, the newest resident of Dharma Rhode, to your friends list and learning his story.

Dharma Rhode, as a content producer, is squeduled to begin Monday, March 30th, 2009 at http://www.DHARMARHODEUNIVERSE.NING.com with it's first official social show entitled 6* (6 degrees). The season will run 8 weeks long with a piece of original content posted each weekday by one of the shows fictional characters. On the site, you can create your own profile pages and interact with the characters similar to the way LG15.com is now functioning.

To give detail on the premise of the series, 6* is a social show about 6 unlikely strangers living across the world who are ultimately tied together by a single human living on the strange island of Dharma Rhode. The group will then learn of their strange genetically enhanced superhuman abilities (such as the touch of death, premonitions of the future, etc.) while coming together to stop a worldwide apocolypse at the end of the season.

This is a FAN MADE SERIES, as we are fans of the LG15 Universe, however, it is fully funded with a budget of $250,000 that the crew has raised since early 2007. The series has a wide variety of castmates, including both somewhat experienced actors and newcomers.
