Riese Runs Fan Creation Contest
Earlier this month, the producers of Riese, announced that do to on-going business concerns, they were suspending the release of new episodes for the time being. The producers have contracted with a British distribution company to negotiate foreign distribution rights for the series in an attempt to generate much needed revenue. While the negotiations continue, they have decided to hold a contest as a way to keep the fans involved in the series, give them an opportunity to express their creativity, and perhaps give them something to do besides sharpening their pitchforks.
The contest parameters are fairly wide-open, entries include but are not limited to: art, music, fan-fiction, wallpapers, avatars or any other creative expression one can imagine. Pretty much anything goes; I for one am thinking interpretive dance. Submissions are do no latter than 12:00 AM PST, March 5th and may be submitted to ryan(at)riesetheseries.com. Throughout the month of March, the producers will be displaying various entries on their website. Also, all work remains the property of their respective artists. The entries will be judged by Ryan and Kaleena, the show’s creators. Among the prizes are several copies of Scott Westerfeld’s new steam-punk inspired novel Leviathan, exclusive Riese and The Sect buttons, and Riese apparel.
I think this is a fantastic way to keep the show's community engaged while behind-the-scenes they are working out their buisness ventures. Good on them.
