A Note to the Members of the IAWTV

"I am writing to inform you of my intention to resign my position as a member of the Board of Directors of the International Academy of Web Television, in concert with three of my fellow founders, Joshua Cohen, Marc Hustvedt, and Jamison Tilsner. Jamison and I will also be resigning our respective offices as Treasurer and Executive Director of the IAWTV."

Are they jumping ship before it sinks or were they forced to walk the plank?
ReplyDeleteNow if Tubefilter would just donate all ownership rights to the "Streamy Awards" to the IAWTV we might have a solution to this mess and we might be able to have a truly independent award show free from conflict of interest etc. etc. etc.
ReplyDeleteFrom what I understand of the internal workings of the IAWTV board, they're getting out at a smart time. Dina Kaplan and the other opportunistic weasels, like Michael Wayne and George Ruiz are going to run this thing into the ground. That retard Drew P. Baldwin seems to think that staying on board with this doomed organization (which he helped to run into the ground by producing the streamys this year) is a smart move. What a retard.
ReplyDeleteAnon, I take it that you do not think the members will have enough control over the IAWTV to run it. One would think there is enough talent within the membership to figure out how to run and operate an award show if nothing else. If they elect 5 solid members to the Board of Directors it should give the membership significant input.
ReplyDeleteThe next step is to figure out what to do about the "Streamy Awards" and that to a degree is dependent on Tubefilter. If Tubefilter wants to hold onto control the IAWTV would be well advised to start fresh. Still I hope that Tubefilter sees the wisdom in donating ownership of the Streamy Awards to the IAWTV so it can be run independently. That would work if one assumes the brand has not been damaged beyond repair. The good thing about that solution is that it creates a sense of continuity which is good for past recipients. Tubefilter in return would be eligible to compete for the actual production of the awards but of course the ultimate decision on who was chosen would be up to the IAWTV.
Wait, the Streamys were the idea of, created by, and owned by the Tubefilter people, why is it even a discussion that they shouldn't control it. Who even thinks that the IAWTV should control it, why is that even something considered?

The Streamys have been marketed as an award show representing an independent body; the IAWTV. It has been compared to the Oscars. The IAWTV was set up according to its own by-laws to be an independent entity. It is thus legitimate to ask if its appropriate for the award show of the IAWTV to be owned by a private for profit company; Tubefilter
ReplyDeleteThis situation was made worse by the fact that the company that set up the awards had almost complete control over the Board of Directors of the IAWTV. That has now been corrected but that does not fix the other issue of ownership of the awards.
If Tubefilter wants to turn the Streamy Awards into their own award show, where they have their own voting body that is fine. However for them to use the IAWTV as the voting body for their own private show defies logic.
Actually, it does not defy logic, it is perfectly logical. THE IAWTV nominates people and then the Tubefilter people produce the award show. I don't see what the big deal is? I could see if it was a situation where the Tubefilter company was in charge of nominating people, but by having an independent 3rd party do it they avoid any conflict of interest. It sounds to me like a perfectly reasonable setup.
ReplyDeleteWhat doesn't sound reasonable is a bunch of people trying to take away their property because they didn't like the way it was produced. Okay, so you don't like the award show, fine go make your own.
LOL I'm pretty sure who this particular 'annon' is.
ReplyDeleteThat said, there is so much conflict of interest going on with the academy and tubefilter that the Streamys won't have credibility next year regardless. Let's eliminate the bad smell and everything that caused it and start anew.
