This is a massive move in terms of major productions moving online. Shows with a fanbase bringing serious money and new viewers into the space can have a major ripple effect for the industry worldwide.
ReplyDeleteYea this could be pretty huge. Still want to see how its going to be implemented.......but a very interesting move for online video.
ReplyDeleteOne can only speculate on where the money is coming from for a "new network".
ReplyDeleteRoyal Pains is on USA Network

In 2011, control and majority ownership of then-parent NBCUniversal passed from General Electric to Comcast.

Leading to...........
...could Comcast be backing this "new network"?
In July 2006, Comcast purchased the Seattle-based software company thePlatform. This represented an entry into a new line of business - selling software to allow companies to manage their Internet (and IP-based) media publishing efforts. Customers of thePlatform include Verizon Wireless, BBC Worldwide, PBS, CNBC, CBS College Sports, and HiT Entertainment .[53] thePlatform also provides media access for Hulu and Fancast.com.
ReplyDeleteThePlatform
ReplyDeletethePlatform's video publishing system, mpx can enable customers to publish video to over-the-top (OTT) services and IP-connected set-top boxes, TVs and Blu-ray Players, and online services from companies including Boxee, DivX, Free Stream Media, Mitsubishi, LG, Roku, Samsung, Syabas, TiVo, Toshiba, VUDU, VIZIO and others.[4]

This might be the future of low rated shows. But I still prefer watching on a big TV rather than small computer screen
ReplyDeleteThere are still a lot of questions and assumptions here. For the large screen they will go after connected devices........but what is the current market penetration of those? But yea there is still a certain charm to a device like the TV that does not crash or stall. Still, this will be a very interesting experiment.
ReplyDeleteI'm extremely inspired with your writing skills and also with the structure for your blog.
ReplyDeleteIs that this a paid subject matter or did you customize it yourself?
