The Verge Launches

:::: UPDATE: THE VERGE IS NOW LIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Technology fans around the World may rejoice!!!!!! The Verge has launched, well almost. Very shortly the site should go live.

Check to see if The Verge is live http://www.theverge.com

For those that do not know The Verge, think back to when the key writer team of Engadget left AOL en masse. This followed a period when AOL tried to impose "The Aol Way" on all the once independent blogs it had acquired. Well you may remember the former Engadget writers teamed up with SB Nation (an participant in Youtubes new branded channel project) and began to build a new technology web site called The Verge.

Over the intervening months The Verge team has continued with their top quality reporting of technology news on a blog and podcast (with regular hosts Joshua Topolsky, Paul Millerand Nilay Patel), called "This Is My Next". Those properties and the Youtube channel http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=theverge will all become part of the new site.

::::: UPDATE 2

From a post by Josh:

"vid.io. The product that powers our video. These guys are about to change the game with their technology, and we are so happy to be early adopters".

http://www.theverge.com/2011/11/1/2528367/welcome-to-the-verge

This appears to makes the role of the YouTube channel less clear.
