One of the common signs that a video creator has been "cheating', using "view fraud", using "paid views" or other strategies to artificially "boost views" is that the statistics are often hidden on YouTube. Note this is quite different from saying that anyone who hides their stats is using these techniques because it is an option open to anyone on YouTube. However when "view boosting" takes place it often leaves "tell tale signs" in the statistics and when they are hidden it camouflages the fact that these techniques have been employed.
