The Collectibles - A Super Comedy Web Series
The Collectibles is an original comedy web series following the adventures of the world’s foremost super hero team, The Power Posse, who, in the wake of a teammate’s career ending injury, must navigate office politics and leverage their merchandising potential to appease their corporate sponsors.
No easy feat for this quirky collection of characters. Led by the intrepid Super Star, perpetual man-child and heart of the group, we find the The Power Posse reeling from the unexpected (and somewhat suspect) loss of their “beloved” team-mate, The Crimson Pike. The void left in his absence creates “challenge areas” for CorpCo Inc., the corporation that owns the rights to The Power Posse.
With worries about job security, market shares, and public opinion, our uncanny heroes must endure pressures from their corporate overlords as well as internal friction as new recruits are interviewed, relationships are strained and the very future of the team is placed in question.
EPISODE 1: "Pilot to Co-Pilot"
“I’ll come right out and say it: The Collectibles is the funniest thing I’ve seen all year. Yes, I’ve laughed at other stuff, and even laughed hard on occasion, but not as consistently as I have while watching this show. It is outstandingly hilarious, and yet there’s much more to it than that. The show is also smart, quick on its feet, and loaded with heart… and there’s no way you’d see something like this on regular television. Not without losing something essential, anyway. In short, The Collectibles is why you watch a webseries.” – Ziggy with Doom Cheez CinemaView full episodes and shop The Collectibles merchandise on www.the-collectibles.com

How to get the most out of Web Series Today #4
Click on the image above to see it more clearly!
A few new "authors" have had a hard time making posts using Blogger. Below you will find some tips and also a request for some feedback from our readers.
The first thing to notice is that there are two editing modes: "Compose", and "HTML". If you are pasting an embed code you should use the HTML mode. If you want to see what your final post will look like or make changes to the final appearance then use the compose mode after you have pasted your embed code.
If you are going to add text below a video you want to make sure that you first have an html tag called a "div". A quick way to create one is to switch to the compose mode after you have added the embed code in the html mode. Then switch back to the html and continue with your post.
Then make sure you have added a title for the post as shown in the graphic above.
Finally make sure that you have added the appropriate labels. You do this by clicking on the "Labels on the right under "Post Settings" and then adding your labels in the box that opens up.
NOTE: as part of the ongoing live beta test we have change the blog design to allow for embeds that are 640x360 rather than 560x315. We hope that this displays content better. However we need our readers help to tell us how well this works.
There are two areas of concern.
1. Screen size. Most modern computers should have a screen resolution that can handle the new width of the blog. If you have a problem with the new width on your screen size, let us know in a comment below.
2. Load time. Web Series Today has never been a fast blog to load. The reason for this is that there are approximately 12 posts on the front page of the blog at any given time. We do this to try and ensure that any given post gets at least 12 hours on the front page (sometimes it might be considerably more, other times it might be less). Video embeds tend to be more demanding on computers, so the more posts with video embeds, the slower the page will load. For that reason we encourage "authors" not to put more than 4 videos (and preferably less) in any given post except in special situations.
The size of the video embeds also has an impact on how well the page loads. For this reason we previously restricted the size to 560 wide. As computers get more powerful they are better able to handle larger embeds and it is our hope that we are now at a point where most of our readers computers will be able to handle 12 posts at the new 640 width. If on the other hand this causes a major problem leave a comment blow and let us know. Include the following information:
Operating System:
Version of operating system:
Browser used:
Version of browser used:
Other information you think will be helpful:
If you are new to Blogger then it is very easy to create your own blog if you need to experiment. Once you feel comfortable go ahead and post on Web Series Today, but make sure you have carefully read all the tips and studied the frequently asked questions before you start posting. This is a shared collaborative space and you are responsible for making sure that your own post is done well.

How to get the most out of Web Series Today #3
While we believe collaboration on the content side of the blog is highly effective, collaboration on the design often led to conflicts that were difficult to resolve. The net result is that the design process stalled in 2009 and because of time limitations we have not attempted to move the design forward since then. Over the next year that is going to change. However, in order to provide a design consistent with the core open philosophy of the blog that process will be centrally controlled, at least in the short run (meaning that at the admin level the blog has been locked down). That does not mean community input is not welcomed. It is essential.
Today we implemented a menu bar at the top of the blog. This was actually part of the design process in 2009 so it will still require some work to bring it up to date. Ideally we planned to put this through a full beta test before deploying, but since two years have passed we feel it is best to deploy the menu bar and beta test it directly on the blog.
We need you to provide feedback on any technical problems generated by the menu bar. If it causes a problem leave a comment below describing the technical issue encountered and include:
Technical issue encountered:
Operating System:
Version of operating system:
Browser used:
Version of browser used:
Other information you think will be helpful:
Note that for now, since the links in the menu bar are two years old we fully expect some of them will not work and those should NOT be reported as "technical issues", We want to focus the beta process and discussion on functional elements of the menu bar as they pertain to how your browser renders the Web page itself.
Thanks for your cooperation and we sincerely hope the risk we are taking here does not inconvenience you in any way. Live beta tests are always tricky but we think in the long run it will move things along much more effectively.

Fumbling Thru The Pieces...
This multiple award winning web series created by Julie A. Smith is a 'Dramedy' gem and if you love quirky characters mixed with soapy drama, this is the show for you! Of course if you're going to make a web series having Soap Goddess Hilary B. Smith heading up the cast doesn't hurt either! But that's not the only reason I fell in love with this show immediately- the cast really does have great chemistry and each character makes their indelible mark...

The XFiles to Ragged Isle???
Anyone that loves the XFiles should be watching the award winning SciFi-Paranormal web series Ragged Isle. Season 2 began with 'Men In Black' (aka) FBI and the Center for Disease Control arriving by ferry, complete with black helicopters and more questions than answers. Those of us who have been missing the XFiles have a new series to sink our teeth into! What's going on? Well, here's a brief recap...maybe you'll be able to figure it out because I'm still scratching my head!
Ragged Isle centers around the residents of this mysterious island and all began when Vicki Burke stepped off the ferry. She immediately got a sense that things were not as they seemed, whispers on the wind warning of some underlying, unseen threat. Resident psychic Madam Clelia set the tone from her first meeting with the new local and from there, things just got more and more strange. Several townsfolk ended up dead, autopsies indicated drowning- what's so weird about that? Only the fact that the victims were completely dry and died several miles inland, away from the island's ominous shores! Vikki was warned never to enter the forbidden north-end of the island, however, she has yet to discover why. The annual 'Lobster Fest' turned out to be a 'Blood Fest', as residents suddenly dropped dead quicker than flies in an insect zapper! Now the FBI and Center for Disease Control have arrived. What will they uncover? Why are half of the residence on the island dead? Will Vikki uncover the cause or be the next victim? Tune in every other Tuesday for new episodes of Season 2....
Still confused? Check out the recap and then watch all episodes, available on the Ragged Isle website.

How to get the most out of Web Series Today #2
A key to getting the most out of Web Series Today is to set realistic expectations. This is not a sprint, its a long distance. If you expect to make one post and see a massive spike in views it is highly probable that you will be sadly disappointed. Set realistic expectations and be prepared to invest in the long run. As mentioned in part #1 of this series of posts, one of the keys is to interact with other "authors" and commenters on Web Series Today.
Pay attention to the "story stream" feature on Blogger. If you add a unique tag/label for your post on Blogger it will create a "category" for all those posts. By then clicking on the series name tag/label under the post it will take you to a "story stream" for that series. Basically it is like a blog with only posts about that series. If you created the show, or are just a fan of the show, take this link and share it with your friends. Normally other authors will not use the tag for a series unless they make a post related to that series, in which case it will be added to the story stream. If you are the author of the post make sure you have the correct tag/label added to all the posts in the series so that the story stream curates the entire series. Check the story stream and if you find one missing go back and add the tag/label to the post. From time to time we will also use a story stream to promote a series on Facebook or Google+ or a special header here on Web Series Today. Finally if a reader enjoys a post, most understand that they can click on the tag/label for the series and see more posts about it.
Examples of story streams:
How to get the most out of Web Series Today
The Fine Brothers: VOTE KIDS REACT!
If you are making a post, pay attention to the size of the embed code you use. The width that fits the available space on Web Series Today is 640. If you choose that size you will give viewers thee best impression of the video.
Icons on videos count. This has been key since day one of Web series and it is just as true today. It is especially important on a blog like Web Series Today because you get one chance to make an impression and make a video stand out. Many will decide whether to watch a video, or not, based solely on the icon. If the video does not have a good icon then think of adding a screen shot to your post to entice the reader into watching the video. There is an old saying that a post is only as good as the title and the lead "photo".
Pay attention to the title of the post. Readers have previously made it very clear that they like to know which series a post is about, so having the name of the series in the title of the post is a good idea. This also helps with Google search which is a key way of getting hits/views on Web Series Today.
Remember, the details count.
Finally, almost all communications about Web Series Today take place here on the blog because we are a community blog. If you have a question about how to do something ask one of the authors. If they do not know, then ask another. That is how communities work. We help each other and with time we grow stronger.
If you have a question leave a comment below. If you read part #1 of this series and you do not leave a comment then you are dead to me. If you actually read part #1 you will know that is not true, but you will probably understand the significance. See, I told you, the details count!

EVIL COMES IN ALL SIZES....
If someone told me last week I'd be writing a blog about a sock I would have told them they were ready for the looney bin! Alas, here I am at 1:30 in the morning doing just that...noooo, I'm not crazy!
When I first saw this new web series up for an award on Mingle TV I was like, seriously? However when I saw this sock with eyes my curiosity was peaked so I ventured on, thinking there is no way this could be worthy of an award nomination...I was wrong! I could not stop laughing with each new episode and I decided the world really needed to know all about 'Revenge of the Sock' and his evil plan for world domination! The series centers around a serial killer, who is trying to get enough money to hatch his evil plan- whichever one he's working on a the moment, like poisoning his roommate or ransoming him with his girlfriend for money! If you have an off-beat and somewhat morbid sense of humor, I highly recommend this unique, ingenious and diabolical series!
*Check it out at: Website Facebook Twitter YouTube
*RHeart Radio will have the creator of this hot new comedy Micah, on July 11th at 10pm (ET)...I just hope I don't become 'The Sock's' next victim! LOL :)

My Story IS the Fan's Voice!
'My Story' is a new web series created by Heather DiPietro, whom you might recognize as an Associate Producer for the Soap Life Documentary produced by Matthew DeMatto, NYPSTV. It centers around a college student who has watched her soap opera 'Moments Of Our Time', for most of her life. We will see not only her life, but also follow her soap as the series unfolds. 'MY STORY' is one of the first web series that will weave soap fan's stories into the show, finally highlighting a lacking ingredient within modern network soap operas. How did you begin watching soaps? Was it with your mother, grandmother or did your soap opera help get you through a traumatic event in your life? Did it bring your family or friends closer together? Were there characters you identified with because you were going through a similar situation in your life? We'll follow our soap fan as she navigates the fan boards on the web, passionately defends her favorite characters and actors...all based on the realities of soap fans today!

DeVanity Update....
To say I have love for this web series is an understatement! Michael Caruso has created an amazing show that is about to get extra down & dirty!
Dynasty veteran Gordon Thomson has joined the cast as 'The Godfather' Preston Regis! You may all recognize him as Adam Carrington and today was his first day on set with the DeVanity crew. But he's not the only Regis in town. Another heavy hitter joining the cast is Arianne Zucker as Julia Regis. You may recognize her as Nichole from Days of Our Lives. She'll play alongside her real-life hubby Kyle Lowder, who returns as the scheming jewelry rival Andrew Regis. All I will say is I think Jason and family just might have to make a deal with the devil....
Not only will we see the Regis clan, we finally see Richard DeVanity! Maxwell Caulfield has been cast as the DeVanity Patriarch, but is he alive?? Do I smell a scandal?? Interestingly his sister Francesca DeVanity, played by Dallas darling Charlene Tilton strolls into town ready to lay down the law! Something tells me she's about to give the siblings a run for their money!
Also returning this season is Robin Riker as Angelica Roth. I have a feeling things are going to get very messy the for DeVanity clan! Does Alex survive the shooting? If not, now she'll have to grieve AGAIN for her son. What about her daughter? Last we heard she has been recovering in Pasadena under all of their noses!
Hang on tight, it's gonna be a bumpy but very fun Season 3, set to return January 12, 2013.
Are you going through DeVanity withdrawals like I am? Want to meet other fans and chat about all things DeVanity? RHeart is about to unveil the DeVanity Fan Club!
