Smoke Break - 115 Episode Web Series on YouTube

Here's a quick recap of a web series I produced and released in 2013 called Smoke Break. Written and directed by Kendal Sinn, it told the story of one day in the life of a company courtyard as employees wander in and out to smoke. It was part romance, part drama, and mostly comedy. The series was pretty ground-breaking when it was first released on September 2, 2013. 115 episodes were put out every single day, Monday through Friday, telling a complete story arc across dozens and dozens of characters.

Festival Management Tool for Filmmakers

You have spent countless hours writing, casting, shooting, and editing your project and now are ready to release your baby into the world. Of course you plan to upload it for streaming, either through YouTube or Vimeo, or any of number of other sites. But if you are planning on submitting to film and web series festivals, you know you have work to do...forms to submit, materials to put together, etc. But it doesn't have to be difficult.

We have used Withoutabox for many years for film festival submissions, and in going through the lists of competitions, I noticed many web series festivals are now included in the list, and many established film festivals are adding digital/webseries/new media categories. This site is a great resource for filmmakers. It is free to use, lists film and web festivals from around the world, lets you search them easily, and best of all, lets you set up your projects in their platform and upload your materials and screeners. This means that you don't have to fill out a ton of paperwork every time you want to enter a competition. You simply select on the festival that you want to enter, select "Qualify my project" and it will tell you which categories your project fits. You pay the festival entry fee, submit your project, and you are done. You can track where your project is in the process (Submitted, acknowledged, in consideration or deleted).
